Welcome to the homepage of the 3rd International Symposium on Extracorporeal Support in Critical care.
This meeting is a unique opportunity in the Australasian Region for technical, industry and clinical staff involved in the provision of Extracorporeal Support for cardiac, respiratory, renal and hepatic failure in Intensive Care to meet and review the latest developments and optimal implementation of mechanical support. The meeting will provide a multidisciplinary audience with a unique opportunity to hear from local and international leaders in clinical implementation and preclinical development of mechanical support.

The meeting targets Intensive Care Specialists, Anaesthetists, Cardiac Surgeons, Cardiologists, Perfusionists, ICU Nurses, Researchers, Allied Health Specialists, Retrieval and Patient Transport service providers
The Alfred Hospital's ICU and Perfusion departments, who will host this meeting, are the National leaders in the provision of Extracorporeal Support. The Alfred is one of the largest lung transplant hospitals in the world and performs over 40 cardiac transplants annually. It has a continuous ECMO experience since 1990 and currently provides ECMO support for 30 adult patients annually with a success rate of ECMO weaning of 80% and hospital discharge rate of 60%.
